Broken Bells is a new project from Shins frontman James Mercer and producer Danger Mouse.

The duo’s first video is for “The High Road”. The song highlights Mercer’s distinctive swooping vocals while contrasting them beautifully with some very un-Shins-like instrumentals. The sound is a little more electronic, with heavier drum breaks and whimsical synths.

Last week, Stereogum premiered the video for the title track of Laura Veirs‘ stellar new album “July Flame”.
The video is an adorable stop-motion piece by animator Doug Savage, who also made Veirs’ “Phantom Mountain” video in 2007.

In Seattle, an epic beard is the ultimate status symbol.
Before Hamilton Boyce (of Song Sparrow Research and Horse Grinder) shaved off his facial hair (R.I.P.), he assembled a crew called “Filthy Cuts” to commemorate his majestic beard with a bomb-diggity rap video.
